HUSH were appointed as Project Managers and Contract Administrators of this Grade II Listed building where we are carrying out a major refurbishment to provide bar and event space, in what was the well known Audley Public House.

The work consists of major renovations to the elevations consisting of brick and terracotta dating back over 100 years. Replacement terracotta blocks were supplied by Darwen many of which had to be hand finished due to their intricate detailing.

A complete new roof structure was provided with tiling being replaced with Welsh slate, the corner turret was rebuilt and two new dormer windows provided with terracotta surrounds.

Internally the building was stripped of all services and in line with the listed building consent non-original partitions and features removed, floors were strengthened and a lot of decayed structural timber replaced to ensure the building’s future use as events space.

Many challenges presented themselves as the building was stripped out requiring unforeseen repairs being required which challenged the budget and programme coupled with the project being carried out almost entirely in the Covid pandemic.
